Sustema - Selected for Lloyd’s Lab to Develop Actionable Client GHG Emissions Insights for Insurance Carrier Portfolios

Climate-related regulation is becoming an increasingly important consideration for insurers. Proposed requirements, including the Prudential Regulation Authority’s CP10/25 framework, are driving greater focus on climate-related governance, risk management and reporting. As a result, insurers are seeking new ways to understand the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the client companies that they insure.

Most commercial companies do not publicly disclose comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions data. This makes it difficult for insurers to build a complete picture of portfolio emissions, identify concentrations of exposure and establish consistent management information to support client targeting, underwriting decisions and corporate reporting.

Through Lloyd’s Lab, Sustema will work closely with insurers, sustainability specialists and portfolio managers to better understand these challenges and explore practical approaches to portfolio emissions intelligence.

The Lab provides a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the market and gain insight into how insurers are approaching climate-related reporting and portfolio oversight. Our focus will be on listening, learning and validating where better company-level emissions information could help support insurance workflows.

We are grateful to Lloyd’s Lab and the participating insurers for the opportunity and look forward to sharing our progress throughout the programme.
